Chairman's speaks on training skilled technicians - NPT, India

Cutech's Chairman, Mr Nachimuthu Arunchalam (who is one of alumni of Nachimuthu
polytechnic under Nachimuthu Industrial Association - NIA, pollachi, India and the
only student who took welding technology as his elective subject during Diploma
Mechanical Engineering studied in the year 1981), delivered a guest lecture at Nachimuthu
Polytechnic College, India. The event was held on 7th Feb 2013 and marked the inauguration
of MCET-TUV Rheinland Centre for Advanced Training (Welding and NDT). Both local
and international professionals from various disciplines took part in the inauguration
ceremony that signified the escalating demand of technically skilled personnel in
the Engineering sector.

During his lecture, Mr Arunachalam elaborated on the current trends in Welding and
NDT sectors, and shortage of such skilled technicians in this field. Mr Arunachalam
spoke about how employers are on the lookout for “employable” technicians who are
pre-trained to transform their theoretical knowledge to practical application. He
highlighted that this growing need of skilled professionals is being sought after
not just in India but in various sectors all over the world. He credited NIA’s efforts
in establishing the training centre as it served as a milestone in enhancing workability
of technicians and opened window for wider opportunities to NIA’s students.

He also promised to NIA to support the centre by providing test samples, NDT & Welding
guest lecturing, future employability training like ASNT,NDT leve1 & level 2, AWS
CWI Certifications for the students.

It should be noted that the NIA institute comprises of 3 colleges namely - Nachimuthu
Polytechnic College, Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering & Technology (Dr MCET)
and Vanavarayar Institute of Agriculture and a number of other educational institutions
under their banner.
